Can I Smoke With 6 Month Smiles?

I smoke a lot. Not a chain smoker, but probably a half pack a day. I want 6 month smiles because it’s faster and looks better than regular braces, but I am wondering if I can smoke with them. Thanks. Marcel

Marcel – Technically, yes, you can smoke while you wear Six Month Smiles, but it will affect the color of your teeth and your braces.

The braces are clear, so nicotine from the cigarettes will discolor them and make them more noticeable. Nicotine stains your teeth, so while you are wearing braces, it will be harder to keep your teeth clean from stains. You will have to be diligent about maintaining good oral health.

Speak with your Six Month Smiles provider for tips on maintaining good oral health while you are in orthodontic treatment.
