My Gap Is Closed But Front Teeth Look Like Bugs Bunny

No joke. That’s how my teeth look. Whenever my brother sees me now he says “What up, Bugs?” It is not funny at all. He is my brother but if he keeps it up I will have to clock him. I had my gap closed with dental bonding and now my super-sized front teeth look worse without the gap than they did with it. Do I need braces now? Thanks – Luca

Luca – We would need to examine your teeth to determine whether or not you need braces, but orthodontic treatment will not decrease the width of your front teeth (central incisors).

A cosmetic dentist can determine if the dental bonding was correctly applied. When a gap is large, dental bonding will increase the width of teeth. If teeth are too wide, they will detract from your smile. Other options that may be more effective are tooth contouring/reshaping, porcelain veneers, or orthodontic treatment.

Visit an experienced cosmetic dentist for an examination. He or she will let you know your options, the approximate treatment time for each of them, and the results you can expect.
